Engrossed in the patriotic zeal and adorned with the colors of the Tricolor, PCM S.D College for Women, Jalandhar celebrated the 75th Independence Day to commemorate the unparalleled sacrifices made by our freedom fighters to liberate the nation from the yoke of slavery. The most pious ceremony began with the NCC Cadets of the college escorting the Chief Guest of the day, the worthy Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Pooja Prashar to the venue of celebration, followed by the pinning of the tricolor badges to the Principal and the members of the staff. Abiding by the norms of social distancing in letter and spirit amid the Covid 19 Pandemic, the students and the staff immersed in the recitation of the National Anthem as the worthy Principal hoisted the National flag. Speaking on the occasion, the Principal urged the staff and the students to take the pledge to work honestly whether it is teaching or study as we have paid so heavily for freedom and cannot afford to lose the gains. Her another suggestion was to get united and enthusiastic for a clean, green and strong India as is suggested by the three colours of the National Flag and by the vision and mission of the great freedom fighters who sacrificed their today for our beautiful tomorrow. She further suggested that the dream of the visionary Management of the college is that the legends like Mahatama Gandhi, Pandit Nehru, Subhash Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh and Kartar Singh Sarabha should always inspire us for the eradication of illiteracy, poverty, communism and corruption which can be materialized only with unity in diversity. To concretize the spirit of rising high and high among the students, the Principal in association with the members of the staff released the white, green and saffron balloons in the air. Throughout the celebration, the stage was managed by the talented NCC cadets Parineeta and Mianshi. Towards the conclusion of the ceremony, in order to let the sweetness of freedom melt in the minds of all, sweets were distributed among one and all.
