"In the remembrance of the Legend Major Dhyan Chand on his 115th Birth Anniversary" PCM S.D. College, Jalandhar highlighted the challenges of sports during Pandemic through a webinar on "Memoirs of Major Dhyan Chand & Replication in Contemporary times"



Department of Physical Education & Sports and IQAC   of PCM S.D. COLLEGE FOR WOMEN, JALANDHAR organized a National Webinar on the topic "Memoirs of Major Dhyan Chand & Replication in Contemporary times" on the eve of National Sports Day.  The Special guest of the day,  Mrs. Rajbir Kaur (Arjuna Awardee) and Former Captain of Indian Field Hockey Team shared her experiences with participants and gave many examples of Major Dhyan Chand's dedication towards his passion for hockey which helped India to procure three Gold Medals in Olympics. The Resource Person, Dr. Rajeev Choudhary (Professor) in Physical Education, Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University enlightened the audience by delivering practical examples of Sports training specifically on the topic "Physical Fitness Awareness with Respect to Current Scenario". The panelists of the webinar Dr. Nishan Singh Deol, Professor& Head, Department of Physical Education Punjabi University Patiala focused upon the usefulness of four pillars of health and immune system i.e. exercise, meditation, diet and sleep especially in the times of Global Pandemic and discussed about the inclusion of Physical Education as a compulsory subject in all streams in New Education Policy. Dr. Baljinder Singh Bal (Assistant Professor) UGC Research Awardee, Recipient of Minor & Major research project in Physical Education, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, acquainted the participants about the current scenario of Sports & Games especially in PUNJAB and the New Sports Universities of INDIA those are being established. Dr. Harmanpreet Kaur (Associate Professor) Lovely Professional University, shared Physical Education as a compulsory subject for all the streams E - Content to be used in online classes in the subject of Physical Education. Mr. Jatinder Sabhi (Sports Journalist Daily Ajit) who covered numerous International Tournaments, gave information of National Sports Awards Distribution function and its live telecast through online mode for the first time by Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports. Mrs. Baljeet Kaur (Senior SAI Hockey Coach, NSNIS Patiala, gave information about E- Paathshala for online coaching in hockey as well as other sports. Mrs. Alka Sharma elaborated about the Fit India Movement initiated by our worthy Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on 29th August 2019. She explained in detail various activities conducted by PCM S.D. FITNESS CLUB under the supervision of Nodal officer, Mrs. Parmjit Kaur under UGC guidelines.

It is worth mentioning that there were about 430 participants who showed keen interest in the National Webinar conducted on Zoom App and YouTube Live stream. Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Kiran Arora appreciated the efforts of initiated by Mrs. Parmjit Kaur, Head, Department of Physical Education & Sports, Mrs. Sangita Sharma Head, PG Department of Economics and Coordinator (IQAC) and Mrs. Alka Sharma (Co-Coordinator of Fit India Movement) Head, PG Department of Commerce & Management.

Punjabi Department of PCM SD College for Women, Jalandhar holds Webinar on 400th Birth Anniversary of Guru Teg Bahadur Ji

Punjabi Department of PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar held a webinar on the 400th birth anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. The theme of the webinar was "Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji's Contribution to Society and Civilization". The Chief Guest of the Webinar was Dr. Karamjit Singh Ji, Former Professor and Head, Department of Punjabi, Kurukshetra University. Dr. Karamjit Ji referred that Guru Ji has shown us the path of true, pious and contented life. He opposed pilgrimages, fasting and yogis etc. Dr. Karamjit also emphasized that it is very important to know the history of Bani as well as to read it. Life should be changed accordingly by understanding their meaning. Different teachers and students participated in the webinar and enhanced their knowledge by listening to the views expressed by Dr. Karamjit Singh. He satisfied everyone by answering the questions. Assistant Professor Ms. Sakshi imparted technical assistance. Head of Punjabi Department Dr. Surinder Kaur thanked everyone and Dean, Youth Club Dr. Harkamal Kaur and Mrs. Ritu Gill also played an important role in organizing this webinar. This webinar was informative for all.

Sakshi of PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar is the Runner - Up in GNDU B.Sc. Non-Medical Sem II result

 


The result of B.Sc Non- Medical Sem. II of PCM S.D.College for Women, Jalandhar has been remarkably outstanding.  Sakshi bagged second position in the University by scoring 344(86) out of 400 marks. Not only this, Navpreet Kaur   stood second in the college by getting 324 (81) marks and Vanshi secured 317 (79.25) marks with third position in the college. The Principal of the college Dr. Kiran Arora applauded the students on their success and wished for their bright future.

Fashion Designing students of PCM S.D. College for Women Sparkle in University results

The result of B.Sc.Fashion Designing Sem 4th of PCM S.D.College for Women, Jalandhar has been remarkably outstanding. Praisha bagged third position in the University by scoring 457( 91.40)out of 500 marks.Not only this, Priyanka Ahuja stood second in the college by getting 449( 89.80) and Jasmeen secured 446 (89.20) marks with third position in the college. Jubilant at these results, Principal Dr. Kiran Arora applauded the students and praised the Department of Fashion Designing for these spectacular results and wished for the bright future of the meritorious students.

Folk song competition was organized by Punjabi Department of PCM SD College for Women, Jalandhar on the occasion of Hariyali Teej

 


An online Punjabi folk songs competition was organized by the Punjabi Department of PCM SD College for Women, Jalandhar on the occasion of Hariyali Teej for the month of Sawan. Girls of various streams participated with great enthusiasm in this competition. The students made their videos singing folk songs and sent them for this competition. Mrs. Anu Bala Malhotra, Assistant Professor in the Department of Music, played a decisive role in this competition. The college's principal, Dr. Kiran Arora, while awarding the winners, said that such competitions connect students with their culture. Head of Punjabi Department Dr. Surinder Kaur, Youth Club Dean Dr. Harkamal Kaur, Assistant Professor Mrs. Ritu Gill made special contribution in organizing this competition. Kumari Navjot Kaur of class XII finished first, Kumari Balwinder Kaur of B.Com III, Tania Suri of class XII stood second, Riya Mahra of XIII came in third and Kumari Sheetal of class XI received consolation prize.

PCM SD College for Women, Jalandhar holds Poem Recitation in collaboration with Youth Club

 

An online Poem Recitation was held by PCM SD College in collaboration with Youth Club on the ocassion of Independence Day. Students of varied streams participated enthusiastically. Students posted their videos online while reciting peoms. Nisha of B.Com Semester V bagged first position, Vishali of B.Com Semester III made it to second position and Jasleen of B.Com Semester III nailed it to third position. Praneet of B.Com Semester – I received a consolation prize. Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Kiran Arora felicitated the winners for their outstanding contribution. E-certificates were awarded to all the participants.  Dean of Youth Club, Mrs. Harkamal Kaur and Deputy Dean Dr. Neena Mittal contributed in making the event a success.

Arshpreet of Integrated B.A.B.Ed Semester II of PCM S.D. College For Women, Jalandhar makes it to first position in university; Manpreet nails it to third

  

GNDU result of B.A.B.Ed Semester – II was extraordinarily outstanding. Arshpreet raised the bar of excellence by bagging first position in university be securing 390/500 (78%) marks. Manpreet got third position with 369/500 (7380%) marks. Kamalpreet made it to sixth position by securing 357 (71.40%) marks. Firdosh Bano grabbed seventh position and Ashima got tenth position be securing 355 (71%) and 351 (70.20%) marks respectively. Firdosh made it to twelfth position with 346 marks and Renuka Bali bagged thirteenth position by getting 344 marks (68.80%). Principal Dr.(Mrs.) Kiran Arora felicitated the achievers and maintained that the faculty of our institution has always been at students disposal in maintaining the standards of excellence which is evident from their university results.

GNDU result of B.C.A. Sem. II of PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar has been remarkably outstanding.  Sanjana bagged first position in the college by scoring 278 (69.50%) out of 400 marks, Shivani   stood second in the college by getting 275 (68.75%) marks and Neha secured 272 (68%)  marks with third position in the college. The result of B.Sc. Fashion Designing Sem II of PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar has been incredibly well. Simrapreet bagged first position in the college by scoring 350 (77.77%) out of 450 marks, Anjali stood second in the college by getting 348 (77.33) marks and Neha secured 344 (76.44%) marks with third position in the college. Punjabi Department of PCM SD College for Women, Jalandhar holds Webinar on Guru Teg Bahadur Ji’s 400th Birth Anniversary




Our institution organized a webinar to commemorate the ninth Guru of Sikh religion, Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji on the occasion of his 400th birth anniversary. The subject of the webinar was the doctrines of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji and its relevance in the Contemporary age. Dr. Indrajeet Singh Vasu (Former Principal, Nav Bharat College, Narur Pansht) was the resource person of the day. Ms. Anu Bala, Assistant Professor of the Department of Music, initiated the event by singing ‘Shabad’. Principal Dr.(Mrs.) Kiran Arora extended a cordial welcome to the participants and the resource person.

 

        Dr. Indrajeet Singh asserted that the tenets propounded by the saint bear special relevance in the times of adversity, keeping in mind the ensuring COVID-19. It is in fact his teachings which illuminate the path to truth, right living and peaceful composure. Scores of teachers and students of various colleges in Punjab participated and enriched their knowledge reservoirs. The technical support was imparted by Ms. Sakshi Khanna, Lecturer of PG Department of Computer Sci & I.T. Owing to the endeavours of Dr. Surinder Kaur and Youth Club Dean, Dr. Harkamal Kaur, the event proved a success. Principal applauded the department on their accomplished enterprise.
