A
seminar on Women Safety was organized by NSS department on December 23, 2019 in
PCM S.D. Collegiate Senior Secondary School to make the Students aware of the
issues related to women safety and Noise pollution. Famous Social Activist,
Mrs. Parveen Abrol was the Chief Guest of the event. She told the students
about the increasing offences committed against women across the country. She
said that according to National Crime Records Bureau 39 crimes, including
rapes, physical assault, kidnapping, public harassment, against women are
committed every hour. Professor Mr. M.P. Singh elaborated about the urging
issue of Noise Pollution, that is very much prevalent in the town. He also informed the students about the app
“SOUND METER” for Illegal Sound Pollution. Inspector Mr. Sanjeev Bhanot
Incharge Sub-division Saanjh Kendar, Central Commissionerate also informed the
students about “SHAKTI APP” and the Helpline numbers. School Incharge Mrs.
Sangita Sharma, Co-incharge Mrs. Monika Sharma extended a green welcome to the
honourable guests. NSS Programme Officer Dr. Mrs. Surinder Narula, gave a vote
of thanks to the guests. Dr. Neelam Gupta, Mrs. Sunita Bhalla, Mrs. Manmeet,
and Mr. Surinder Singh (Constable) were also present there.

S. Ramanujan Society of Mathematics of PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar celebrated Mathematics Day
S. Ramanujan Society of
Mathematics celebrated ‘National Mathematics Day’. Power Point Presentation and
Model Making competitions were organized on the event to give an opportunity to
the students to display their Mathematical skills. The Chief Guest Mrs. Neera
Seth, Former Head of Department of Mathematics, PCM S.D. College for Women and the
Principal of the college, Dr. (Mrs.) Kiran Arora appreciated the content,
confidence and communication skills of the students.

Prem Chand Markanda S.D.
College for Women Jalandhar participated in spark Fair-6 organised on 19-20
December 2019 by district administration Jalandhar. More than 6000
students of various schools visited the stall with great enthusiasm.
Students were given awareness regarding various courses under different
streams run by the institution. They interacted with the faculty members to
gain knowledge about the choice of different subjects and their respective
career options. The students were very much attracted by the skill oriented UGC
sponsored B.VOC courses and Integrated B.A /B.Ed course (just in 4 years).They
were excited to know about free certified courses to be initiated in the
month of April onwards. Principal Dr. Kiran Arora appreciated this event
and said that this Educational Fair is fruitful endeavour of the administration
which gives a platform to higher educational institutions for counselling the
students for further studies.

PG Department of Fashion
Designing organized an educational visit to ‘Virsa Vihar’. It was an exhibition
of Home Décor like Wall Hangings, Candles, Sarees, Paintings, Sceneries,
Printed fabric suits, hand made Jewellery, carpets, bags, kidswear, cushions,
dresses, bed sheets etc. Students of B.Voc Fashion Designing and Product
semester 1st and semester 3rd and B.Sc. Semester III
there and gained new experiences of making creative items and articles.
Dr.(Mrs.) Kiran Arora appreciated the efforts made by Mrs. Sunita Bhalla, Head
of the Department and other faculty members.
