PCM SD College for Women participate in Fit India Movement


A Fit and Healthy India was the aim of the Fit India Movement which was launched by Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi. On 29th August, 2019 on the occasion of National Sports Day which also commemorates the Birth Anniversary of the legendary Hockey Player major Dhyan Chand. The aim of the movement was to make physical activity and sports a part of daily routine in every man’s life. Not only India but may countries of the world like China, Australia, America are also involved in this movement to make people of their country fit by 2030. Considerable efforts for health and well being of the teachers, staff, officials should be made to achieve physical fitness, metal strength and emotional equanimity . Students, Staff and Officials assembled to view the live telecast of the launch of the ‘Fit India Movement’ and took the Fitness Pledge. Students also walked 10,000 steps and pledged to incorporate the objectives of the movement in their daily life. The NSS Unit and the Physical Education Deptt of the College organized various warming up and cooling down exercises. Students also participated in Badminton competition.

Fashion Designing Deptt holds workshop on Working on Advanced Usha Sewing Machines


Post Graduate Department of Fashion Designing organized a workshop on the mechanism of advanced Usha Sewing Machine. The experts from Usha Pvt Ltd familiarized the students with the working of Usha Stitch Magic wherein they learnt the skills of using it by employing different stitches while constructing and ornamenting the garment. Principal Dr.(Mrs.) Kiran Arora acknowledged the initiative sought by the department.

BA Sem IV Students outshined in GNDU.

Students of B.A. Semester-IV outperformed in May 2019 GNDU result. Araish Fatima nailed it to sixteenth position in the University be securing 643/800 marks. Ayushi Puri made it to twenty first position with 636/800  marks. Parjinder Kaur got thirty fist position with 630/800 marks. Anushka Sharma made it to forty-nineth position and Neetu Sharma bagged seventy second position by securing 619/800 and 609/800 marks respectively. Akashdeep also managed it to ninety-first position with 602/800 marks. Principal Dr.(Mrs.) Kiran Arora applauded the students  for their top-notch performances.

Rani of M.Sc.(CS) got distinction in Guru Nanak Dev University


Student of M.Sc.(Computer Science) Semester – IV made a mark for herself in May-2019 GNDU examination. Rani came through with flying colours by getting a distinction in the University with 1811/2400 marks. Principal Dr.(Mrs.) Kiran Arora felicitated the student for making the institution proud.

TALENT HUNT 2019-20 HELD IN PCM SD COLLEGE






A talent hunt was organized to encourage the young girls to come forward and showcase their talent. The main aim was to nurture the intrinsic qualities of students and end stage fear. Students exhibited their talent in various activities. 
      
       Mrs. C.M. Markanda, Advisor D.S.S.D. Board was the Guest of Honour for the day. She was warmly welcomed by Madam Kiran Arora. Mrs. Harkamal Kaur, Dean Youth Club also welcomed the worthy Chief Guest.

Fashion Designing Students of SD College secured 4 Top Merit Positions

PCM SDians carried forward their legacy of producing excellent results in B.Voc(Fashion Designing and Product) Semester – II in May 2019 GNDU Examination. Manpreet Kaur carved a niche for herself by bagging first position in the University with 656/800 marks. Jaspreet Kaur made it to the second position by securing 651/800 marks. Harpreet Kaur got third position and Twinkle nailed it to the fourth position be securing 645/800 and 638/800 marks respectively. Principal Dr.(Mrs.) Kiran congratulated the students for their remarkable performance.

PCM SD College for Women, Jalandhar celebrates ‘Sadbhavna Divas’



‘Sadbhavna Divas’ was celebrated in the college premises organized by the department of NSS on the birth anniversary of our former Prime Minister, Rajeev Gandhi, a quintessential luminary who held a vision of a progressive nation. The students took an oath of working towards solidarity and goodwill of their fellow citizens irrespective of their caste, creed, religion and language. Mrs. Surinder Narula (Incharge of the NSS) in light of the day averred that one must eradicate all prejudices through peaceful dialogue and constitutional means without resorting to violence. Dr. Neelam Gupta, Mrs. Manmeet Kaur and Mrs. Sunita Bhalla (Programme Officer) witnessed the occasion.
